5th Grade Moving On Party | ||||

Description: | A special event for the 5th graders of LMES and MES at the end of the year. 5th Grade parents are needed to organize and plan the event. The day of the party volunteers are needed to set up, clean up, bake, and run a variety of activities. |

Art Show (Spring - April) | ||||

Description: | A Region 15 Art Show is held every spring. Help is needed preparing artwork, moving artwork to and from the show, setting up and cleaning up, and coordinating volunteers to assist (creates and sends home notices for parents to sign up as a volunteer as the event draws near); Works in conjunction with the Art teacher. |

Author / Illustrator (Fall - October; Spring - April) | ||||

Description: | An event that brings a guest author or illustrator to speak to LMES students. Assistance is needed to coordinate and publicize (create and distribute parent volunteer sheets as the date draws near), and works closely with the school librarian and other elementary schools. The first Author/Illustrator program is held in the Fall and a second one in the Spring. |

Back to School Social (Fall - September) | ||||

Description: | An evening event at the beginning of the school year to meet fellow classmates, families and staff. There are games, music, activities and Italian ice. Help is needed to set-up, cleanup, and run games and activities. |

Back to School Supplies (Spring - June) | ||||

Description: | Coordinates the order and distribution of school supplies per the LMES supply list. These items are ordered and sorted over the summer and are waiting for the students the first day of school at their desks. Help is needed to coordinate at the end of the school year and to sort and distribute supplies over the summer. |

Bagel Buddies (Spring - April) | ||||

Description: | A chance for a parent (or other adult) and child to have breakfast together before school. Help is needed to coordinate, setup, cleanup and serve during the event. It is held on one of the mornings of the Spring Book Fair. |

Birthday Bulletin Board (Monthly) | ||||

Description: | Assistance is needed every month to write and distribute cards to students and update the Birthday Bulletin Board. |

Book Fair (Fall - October; Spring - April) | ||||

Description: | A 3-day event during the school day to provide children and parents with an opportunity to buy books. Help is needed to set up, breakdown and help children with book selections and payment. Also includes “Donate a Book”: A program that coordinates book donations to the school library and teacher wish list and takes place during the book fairs. Help is needed at the book fair and in creating bookplates. A fall book fair takes place in October. A second book fair takes place in April. |

Description: | An event where LMES collects clothing and the school is paid by the pound for items collected. Help is needed to coordinate the collection and on the day of collection, usually a Friday after school and/or a Saturday morning. Collections are held twice a year (in the fall and in the spring). |

Description: | Coordinates and plans two cultural arts events (one during the Fall and the other during the Spring) held during the school day for LMES students. Works with the faculty at LMES to arrange dates, events, setup/clean up, and to publicize. |

Description: | Let's celebrate back to school with a fun and delicious treat! You can choose your flavors, toppings, cones, or cups, and pick up time and let the PTO handle the rest. We have made it easy for you to select your items and once your order is placed we will contact you about scheduling pick up. Don't forget to take pictures and send them to Longmeadowelementaryschoolpto@gmail.com or tag us @lmespto !! Scoopin' Ice Cream will donate $3 for each ice cream kit sold to LMES PTO. Thank You!

Jump Rope for Heart (Winter - February) | ||||

Description: | An after-school event for the 5th graders. Students jump rope to raise money for the American Heart Association. This event is typically held around Valentine's Day. Volunteers work in conjunction with Physical Education Teachers, organizes 5th grade parents to coordinate and set up refreshments and snacks, and to monitor jumping. |

LMES After School Clubs (Fall - October; Winter - February) | ||||

Description: | An enrichment program that provides students the opportunity to participate in an after-school class or activity that they currently do not have access during the school day. Assistance is needed to coordinate dates and classes offered as well as coordinating teacher/instructor schedules; coordinate registration; develop brochures to distribute to families; search for additional class offerings; and to communicate with parents regarding schedule changes. This program is dependent on securing parent volunteers to be available and present in the school during the program times. |
